Subject: 1500 & 3500 to 1700 & 4000 Lamp Interchange

With the introduction of the new 1700 and 4000 models there have been questions raised concerning the ability to interchange lamps with the existing 1500 and 3500 models. Due to the different power requirements between the newer and older models the answer is NO.

The ballast on the new 1700 and 4000 models produce higher output voltage than the ballast in the 1500 and 3500 models.

Example: Installing a 1500 lamp in a 1700 unit will cause the lamp to burn out more quickly due to higher output from 1700 ballast. Whereas installing a 1700 lamp in a 1500 model will cause the lamp to be underpowered.
